5G start Wednesday caps many years of hoopla, expense

Verizon and AT&T turned on a key new element of their 5G networks Wednesday, the culmination of a yearslong system that observed both carriers make investments billions in spectrum and gear to up grade their networks.

The networks that lit up on Wednesday are working with wavelengths called C-band to go over a large element of the place with wi-fi support that need to be noticeably more rapidly than latest 4G support.
